Aspron Trachy (Silver, 27 mm, 4.11 g, 6 h), Thessalonica, 1081/2. + KЄ RΘ AΛЄΖ Nimbate bust of Christ facing, wearing tunic and pallium, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels in his left; in fields, IC - XC. Rev. St. Demetrius, nimbate and in military attire on the left, holding hilt of sword in his right hand, and Alexius I, bearded, on the right, standing facing, holding between them patriarchal cross set on globe and two steps. DOC 4. SB 1904. Nicely toned. Slightly rough and with some deposits, otherwise, very fine.
